It’s been said recently that sitting is the new smoking.  The long term effects of static sitting can be as detremental to health as inhaling toxic cigarettes.  What can one, who is tied to a desk for their job, do? Changing positions frequently is one option, as are strategies that include vary job tasks and frequent movement breaks.  A recent article went so far as to encourage treadmill walking while working at your computer.

How ever one addresses this problem, a consideration should include a standing desk, allowing the worker to either sit or stand and change positions frequently.  This is a lot safer than trying to walk on a treadmill while conduction other business, which in my opionion is another injury waiting to happen.

While I am not endorsing this product in particular, this type of device holds much promise in solving the sitting dilemma.
